It's broken in now.....

Well, I was doing well. 4 months old, 3000 miles, and it happened. Wife and I were loading up to head out for Easter. She noticed a ding on the bottom of the front passenger door. I said a few words, checked it quickly, and off we went. While I was driving on the highway, my son was in his truck behind me. Going around a curve in he road, he noticed my door. When we arrived at our destination, my son pointed out not only the ding my wife saw, but another immediately next to the door handle recess, and, a crease running vertically between the two! I went out of my mind! Only thing I can figure is I got wacked at a shopping center last night and never noticed anything wrong as it was getting dark. I never park near anyone, and there was nobody parked on that side when we left the store. B@$&#@%S! I take such good care of it. Tomorrow it's the insurance company, then the dealer body shop. Maybe I'll get the final answer on my quarter panels while I am there.

Sorry to hear about that. I about flipped when I found my first dent. Then I found out on this forumn that I got it by closing the rear hatch by using the rear "bowtie".

The first dent always sucks! I am still waiting for mine and I have had the HHR since October. I really think I am overdue.

My first scratch came due to Hurricane Rita. It is on the lower/bottom side of the rear bumper - not really noticeable, unless you're really looking for it.

I have a few little scratches and chips also. Oh well, thats the price you pay for driving your car. You can't keep it perfect looking forever.

Are your dent(s) at the end(s) of the chrome hatch strip? I noticed mine has slight dents on both ends so I'm taking it to a dent wizard paintless dent service to see if they can fix it. I don't use the bowtie to close the hatch, I use the license plate. I noticed my dent's one day after leaving the tag office. I assume some smart A$$ smacked the bowtie pretty hard as he walked by. I know the dent's weren't there the night before cause I waxed the whole HHR and I went to the DMV first thing in the morning to order my plates. Leaving the DMV I noticed them as I was returning to the car......I was hot enough to f.... when I saw them.

Yup I had one from closing it using the beauty bar but it was only on the passenger side. I took it back to the dealership and they agreed thats what it came from. They fixed it and told me to close the hatch using the little hand hole on the bottom of the hatch.

Yeah, I use the hand thingy untill it get's most of the way down then I push on the license plate to make it latch. My plate has a frame with a plastic cover and the bolts and nuts are nylon so it won't mar the paint if it does touch.

I have one dent at the end of the beauty bar on the drivers side. I make sure to use the license plate to git it closed now.

And the estimate is.....................$880.00 to repair my door. At least the insurance covers some of it and I don't get spanked because it was a "hit and run".
