I've got good news and bad news about me buying my first car
Okay, as some of you know, I'll be getting my first car soon. I've been saving for the HHR for several years now and I've got about $6000 saved up. Unfortunately, I'm $2000 short of buying an HHR. I was recently hired and if I save all my paychecks, I'll have $8000 by December.
I just found out my brother has a job interview tomorrow. That means there will likely be conflicts with our schedules, allowing me to get a car earlier than December. However, I'm still a few thousand short of the money for an HHR or Pontiac Vibe.
I did some looking and I found a 2004 Ford Focus ZX5 for sale for $6000, which means I will most likely be getting that.
And my dream of getting the HHR is pushed back a few more years.....

Hey, I hear ya.... I wanted an HHR so bad when they first came out in 2006. I have a picture of me standing next to one, parked next to my truck that I test drove back then....it looks just like mine now! Took me 3 years, but I finally got it. Just hang in there!

I have a 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 that I purchased new. It has been an absolute wonderful car (so far, knock on wood).

In a few more years maybe you will get that HHR or something else may catch your eye by then.

Back when I was in high school, I was saving for my first car, which I really wanted to be a 93-97 V8 F-Body (Camaro preferably). I can't tell you how many times I almost settled for something else that would have cost less than a nice used Camaro. I hung on for a year after getting my license, and finally landed a nice '96 Z28. I was SO GLAD I didn't settle for something earlier, it was well worth the wait. Trust me, I know it's hard, but hang in there.

Here's the exact Ford Focus ZX5 for sale that I want. It's under $6000, fully loaded (sunroof, mp3 player, etc), and has 58000 miles on it.

I'm not doing loans of any kind. Heck, I don't even want to pay interest on payments. I just want to purchase the car with all the money up front.

Well, my $0.02... a loan would be very beneficial. It would help establish credit come time when you do need a loan, like for a house or anything. If you put as much down as you could, and then pay double payments it would be paid off in no time, and you wouldn't have even paid much interest. IMO, the interest would be worth the price to build good credit (provided you pay on time...
)
But I don't blame you for wanting to pay it all up front.
