Jumpstarting

This morning while at work, a coworker need a jumpstart. I was busy, told him to go take my car and do it.

I've never used this to jumpstart another car or have i ever needed it.

I told him about the connection up front with the red cap and about the strut being a grounding point.

He saw it , hooked it up and got nothing from it.

Now I've never even had a car with one of these remote points.

Am I missing something here?

Thx

That sounds about what my son did when I had to use my HHR to jump start him before.

I found this about a "B" post. Mine is a 2007. I got the 2inch manual out and seems like my friend did everything right.

There is only one post under the red cap and the ground is over on the strut yet he got nothing to his car.

This is basic stuff here, isn't it?

Yes it is, but I just sat in the car while my son did the work.

That strut tower isn't a very good ground point. Everything is mounted to a painted surface. I used a ohm meter and most of the time I get no reading. Use a better ground point, such as a bare metal surface some place on the engine, believe Chevy Mrg also mentioned that is a thread awhile back.

My HHR sucks to try to jump another car. Real hard to get a good ground from the strut.

Haven't jumped anyone in the HHR yet... but I did jump friends several times with my Cobalt (same setup). I have always hooked to the actual battery in the trunk. I know that there is a post and all set up under the hood, but I have never trusted it.
