Those insanely expensive online replacements target insurance jobs, I suspect. Weird market. A lot of expensive activity in identifying, grading (little value unless VGC or near mint,) cataloging, storage, marketing. Thus, almost valueless arriving in the boneyard. I know of one that just automatically scraps them all, satisfied with the allow scrap value, I guess.

I found a pair of nice 5x110 18" G6 GXP wheels in a back seat there, management says, " Huh, musta missed 'em. That'll be $50." I took em.

I found 4 mis-matched aluminum wheels here on the property after I purchased. Tons of steel scrap metal and I was pulling $175 a truckload at the scrap yard... just the 4 wheels alone I got $200
