Key and Fob

Called to check on getting a spare key and a extra fob from the Chevy dealer here in Blount County. The technicians were super nice! My key is only going to cost me $27.50 and the fob is going to be $60.00. I really thought it was going to cost me more than that. They said they will do the programming for free since I already have a working key and fob.

I had a fob issue when I first got my HHR because I didn't realize the fob didn't work. I feel silly for not noticing it before buying my car 8 days ago. But the keyless entry wasn't really that big of a deal to me at the time. Love it now of course! When I Got home I took the fob apart and saw the bracket holding the battery had popped loose. But I found a post on here where someone suggested fixing it using a bit of cardboard, so I did. It works now. I had to get a new battery for the fob though. After that I put the cardboard in it to hold it in place. Love it! I'm going to go this week to get my spare key and fob.

If someone you know is handy at electrical soldering have them fix the fob for you (or if you are, do it right, not implying girls can't solder) It's a permanent fix where as the cardboard is temporary at best.

The extra key for mine was $25 a year ago, so that's about right. Never had to get the extra fob so I don't know the cost.

Unfortunately I'm no good at soldering. I tried to solder a connection on my motherboard once and I just ended up with a burnt finger lol. I don't know anyone off hand that can solder. I didn't ask if they could fix my other fob for me. That could be a possibility?

I'm going to check with mine. Even if they can't 60 bucks for a new fob isn't bad.

Those look like excellent prices, especially from a dealer. The locksmith shop I work at gets $30.00 for those keys and we don't do the remotes. Getting free programming from the dealer for the fob is a great deal.

I thought so to. I was expecting to pay out close to 200 after programming. So I'm happy!
