Keys will not turn on ignition
#12
ok i got my car back !!!! the dealer claims to have changed the ignition,,
( old key still works in new ignition ??? ) if i had to pay for it ,,it would of cost $ 396.oo = $100 an hr for labor for 2 hrs and the rest in parts ...
so far so good !!!!
after listening to you guys i know i can count on it happening again !!
but i printed out this page ,,so i know what to do next time...
i happen to bump in a guy in the north end of BOSTON today with a 2009 hhr
and asked him if he ever had this problem and he said it also happened to him
but he just waited 2 hrs and tryed it again and it was fine ,,,never to have happened again ( so far )
is there anyone this problem hasn't happened to ??
NOT FOR NOTHING GM SHOULD DO SOMETHING FOR US

They switched out the ignition. I will have to look up th receipt for the exact terminology.
To tell you the truth, the key not turning was the least of my complaints. Dealing with GM roadside assistance was problematic as well as the dealer that GM forced the tow to.
1. I told GM RAss that since i have an SS, a flatbed truck would be required to tow it. 2 hours later, a normal tow truck shows up. Another 2 hours later the flat bed shows up. GM RAss assured me that they would take it from there and inform the dealer of why the car was there.
2. The dealer calls me on Monday and says "there is a note on this car to call you". I told the dealer the issue and asked him to check the suspension, alignment and tires since the car was dragged up a flatbed and bounced down while in park.
3. The dealership service phone led to a voice mail every time I called. Finally got a call a few days later saying I could pick it up and everything was under warranty.
4. The car was covered in bird poop on drop off and when i arrived, they hadn't even rinsed it off. Also they said I did not request a full inspection; which i did so I have no idea if anything was damaged in th tow.
5. The service manager said "if anything was wrong our guys would be all over it. They work by the hour and the the more problems they find, the more they get paid." I laughed at him and got my keys and got the f-ck out of there.
So in short, GM Roadside Assistance was helpful, but slightly incompetent. And if you live in the NoVA area, avoid Ourisman Chevy like the plague.
