Kia Soul vs Mazda 5 vs. HHR

Guys and girls,

I saw Motorweek's test of the two cars the Kia Soul and Mazda 5. When I compare our cars to theirs I think we stack up well.

The Mazda is stone slow while the soul is no performance giant. Of the 2 competitors, if the HHR wasn't made I'd take the Soul, it has a nice interior and looks for the money. Neither other car is any threat to ours as I could see.

I see that their gas mileage isn't much different and our motors are bigger if that flavors your decisions. I'm keeping my HHR.

I've always liked the Mazda5, if they would have made a MazdaSpeed5, I would have been all over it.

I watched motorweek this am too, specifically because it was on the mazda5. We are trading in the chevy aveo or a mazda5 sometime this month or next....but you bet I'm keeping the HHR!

My biggest problem with the KIA or the Mazda is the lack of cargo space. Its one of the biggest reasons I bought my HHR. It was about the only thing that was small, had style and still could carry thew tools and stuff I use frequently.

yeah I agree with you on the storage issue. The mazda5 isnt bad on storage if you fold the 3rd row flat, which we will do when we are not using the 3rd row. The other thing is that the hhr has a good power/weight ratio, better than the mazda5, im not sure about the soul. I have a small 1300lb camper, that i can pull with the hhr, but the mazda5 def. wont be able to handle it.

The Kia is targeted towards a younger demographic (I belong to a much OLDER demographic) and, as others have said, I've always liked Mazdas.

The Soul is, to this older-demographic person, butt ugly. And I drove a Honda Element, so that should tell you something...

I'm very pleased with my HHR, and very glad a made the decision I made. I would do it again!
