Towing 1300lbs?

I thought towing capacity on the HHR was 1000lbs? I have a 16' fiberglass boat that I don't know that I'd want to tow with the HHR. Its about 1300lbs as well.

The Soul is targeted specifically at the Scion xB. Supposedly, the Soul will be as "customizable" as the Scion. Definitely aimed at a younger demographic that doesn't "feel" the retro vibe of the HHR.

I personally really like the Soul and looking forward to them coming out with the Soulster. I would trade the HHR for one but if something happened to my little wagon I would look into buying the Soul.

the towing capacity on the hhr is 1000lbs, however i called my dealership and they said that the hhr could pull the 1300lb camper. the Pontiac vibe is rated to pull 1500lbs. I gotta believe the hhr can do the same. I think they just under rate it. With the mazda5 they don't suggest pulling anything.

There was a rather lengthy discussion at the Gatlinburg meet in April about the towing capacity of the HHR. The gist: The 1,000 lb. rating is based on the limitations of the hitch and how it mounts to the vehicle. Seems that towing more than 1,000 lbs. with the hitch mounted as intended can result in structure failure in the back end. One participant at the meet had some additional reinforcement added to prevent damage to his chassis when towing any weight, not just above the stated capacity.

A couple of things that I really love about the Kia Soul is that heated cloth seats are standard equipment on every trim level and heated side view mirrors are standard on all trim levels as well.
Those are very attractive features, in my opinion, and I wish they came standard on more vehicles.

Red face Lately, I've been thinking of trading my '04 Passat.

I've been looking at replacements on the web. Since I am still paying on the HHR, funds are kind of limited.
So, I looked at the Kia Soul, Nissan Versa and the Scion xD. Out of the three, the Soul is better equipped, but a little high end on financing. The Versa is not too bad but lacking in power and a good sound system. The xD can be modded at will after purchase of a basic model. Plus the xD is the lowest priced of the three. The sound system, although not up to par with the Soul, isn't bad either.
I got to say, the new sound system that I have in my SS is spoiling me. I like the USB and Aux input jacks and the MP3 capability that the Passat does not have. The SS is not my daily driver and any replacement that I would get with a kicking sound system would keep me happy on my 30 minute drive to work every day. I hate to give up my Passat as it has been very good to me. These replacements I'm looking at only get slightly better fuel economy. I'm getting 30-31 mpg with the 1.8 turbo.
Maybe I should just upgrade the sound system.
I didn't even consider the Mazda5 and the Honda Fit.
Anyways I'm just rambling on, and my birthday is this weekend. Let's see if I wind up buying me a new toy for my present.
After doing some more web searching, I'm back on the fence to give the Soul a first look before checking out the xD.
One thing is, in the Soul, most all options in the xD are standard equipment with the Sport version of the Soul. Hey, the only option is the sun/moon roof.
It looks like I may be getting myself one expensive boom box for a birthday present.
Oh yeah, and Kia has 0% financing for 36 month loans, and I believe 1.9% for 48 month.

Talking Well, I went out and bought my birthday present.

I got me a $20,000 boom box called a Kia Soul Sport.

Here he is getting comfy with the 'Smurfinator'.

He is the son of a different father. This is gonna be my new daily driver.
One thing has got me mad though, No Hamsters!
The 36 month 0% financing payments were a little high, so I went with the 1.9% 48 month financing.
They didn't give me what I expected for my trade-in, only $4500. That was with an extra set of wheels and tires. The A/C needed servicing so they knocked off about $200.
It is a fully loaded Sport with sun/moon roof and the 5-speed.
