lack of advertising for the HHR
Here in vancouver, i buy one of the major daily newspapers, called The VANCOUVER Province. I AM ALWAYS CHECKING OUT THE PAPERS TO SEE IF ANY CHEVY hhr'S are being advertised in them. Fridays paper is the main issue with tons of advertisements for everything, especially cars. Barely a tiny mention of a new HHR for sale. This sundays paper was a thick paper, but it too had no HHR's advertised. There was a large 2 page spread in the auto section from a very large GM dealership that showed off about 10 cars/suvs for sale..including the chevy cobalt and the chevy aveo (but no HHR's). This newspaper has a circulation of about 200-350,000 daily sold copies/subscriptions. GM Canada does a very poor job of marketing the HHR up here, whether in radio, tv or newspapers. No wonder that the HHR has been out since 2005 and in a big city of 2.5 million (metro) you can only spot a rare sighting of the HHR . If you spot one on our city streets, most people's reaction is ''oh look..a pt cruiser. No wait! it says chevy on the back? chevy makes a pt cruiser??'' 0r '' ohhh look, an HHR! I SEEN tons of them in Los Angeles, looks like they are selling them here now''.

Are you speaking of the advertisement ads....stating model and price? If so, largely they are paid for by the dealer or group/area of dealers.
Sunday paper here has 3 Chevrolet dealer ads. 2 out of three advertise HHR's, along with other related vehicles. They also state the discount price.....most starting just around $13,000. One dealer, I believe it was Sands Chevrolet, indicated he has 30 2007 HHR's on hand.

http://media.gm.com/us/chevrolet/en/...hhr/index.html <<read this. A few facts i dug up: since august 2005, 41,000 hhr's were sold when it was introdeuced at that time to the end of dec.2005. GM states it sold 101,000 hhr's in 2006. It seems these figures are units sold in the USA and not in other markets. The population of Canada is roughly 33 million people (World Factbook: Population of Canada: 33,390,141 (July 2007 est.). I cant find figures from GM Canada on HHR sales to date, but i would just take a wild guess and say maybe 10 to 15,000 units since 2005. Here in my city, i have been to 4 very large GM dealerships and at each one i would find possibly 2 HHR's in the showrooms and about 4 to 5 on the lots outside. Remember, i am talking about large dealerships with at least 500- 1000plus vehicles for inventory. Its like some dirty secret ''yah, we can let you test drive a HHR...BUT DON'T TELL anybody !! sshhh!!''

hi y'all
I noticed it as well here in Ottawa, eastern Canada. No add in any paper so far. There was, however, a full positive coverage of the HHR in the automobile section of the Ottawa Citizen in september.
Sales seem better..I saw 4 other HHR on my 50Km trip yesterday.

My dealer says they can't keep HHRs on the lot. They sell too fast. So why waste advertising dollars on them? Instead, they're hawking those new Silverados that aren't moving due to high gas prices.
I do think they need to run some TV ads nationally on the new SS. Let everyone know it's not just a inexpensive family car!
