lack of dead pedal

strange that the chevy HHR does not offer a dead pedal, not even on the upcoming turbo model . I think all my vehicles in the past had a dead pedal, except a chevette (it just drove dead). Anyone here find it a problem to not have it. aLSO, I AM CURIOUS IF ONE CAN GO TO AN AUTO PARTS PLACE OR AUTO WRECKER AND BUY A USED ONE (whups, i was capping!) and do your best to install one. Any thoughts on this subject? thanks.

Chooch are you talking about the petal you can rest your left foot on while driving?

If you find one let me know. It sucks driving my manual transmission without a dead pedal.

I don't get what the purpose of it is even after checking wikipedia...can't you just put your foot on the floor?

When you're driving a manual, it's more comfortable rest your foot on a pedal right next to the clutch. It's also quicker to move your foot from the dead pedal to the clutch rather than moving your foot from the floor to the clutch.

For automatic drivers, it's more comfortable to have both feet in the same position.

Right now I'm resting my foot on the carpet on the side of the clutch, but the floormat does not cover that section of the carpet. My worries is having a worn out spot on the carpet.

I only use it in other cars to prevent wearing a whole in the carpet

That's just carpet. A dead pedal would be made of molded black plastic.
