Wouldn't that be the gas pedal ?
Don't you really mean, "Whats that to the far LEFT next to the brake?"

Well, since the OP has me on his ignore list, I probably shouldn't bother replying.

Anyway, the "dead pedal" or simply, left foot rest, is molded into the upper floor pan and is covered with carpet and a vinyl wear strip. It isn't hard plastic like on a Toyota or such. While it isn't as wide as some other cars, I find it adequate for the purpose, although admittedly my driving posture isn't the greatest and I don't use it very often.

It's actually very similar to the one on my old Corsica.

My 2006 manual shift LS has no dead pedal, are you sure yours has one? Doesn't look like there is room for one with the shape of the floorpan.

Mine has one. Is it possible that it's only available on automatics?

I don't know about a dead pedal, but I seem to run into a lot of drivers that I wonder on they stay alive.

See ya down the road

Yeah, I think that's the deal. After looking @ all the interior pics I could find, looks like only the auto trans models have one, which is completely opposite of the way it should be (unless you're a left foot braker...any racers out there?). But looking @ my manual shift HHR, there really isn't room for one because of the way the footwell is shaped.

I just sat in a 2007 and 2008 automatic and they had the vinyl strip that is the same color as the carpet. There is enough space to incorporate that into the manual, but the idiot that design the carpet must have never driven a manual and expects our foot to never leave the clutch.
