Lift gate handle pocket..

Like many here I've read the threads on how not to close the lift gate but I never knew there was a pocket handle until yesterday. For you slow people like me here's a pic.

The handle is OK, but you still have to PUSH on something to close it. I hope I never get a dent because of PUSHING. If I do, I'm gonna be MAD.

Since finding the pocket I haven't had any trouble closing the lift gate by just using the pocket handle.

The head of my dealerships body shop showed me that handle. Right after I showed him my dents in the hatch from closing it with the beauty bar.

I have been using this handle to pull it down most of the way and then use the license plate to close the rest of the way. no dents thus far. ::knocks on wood::

I have been using the handle most of the way also, but I generally use the bowtie to push it the rest of the way. I have not had any dents or problems as of yet. I know that there is this issue when using the beauty bar, but I have not seen any dents of deformations on mine.

I've been using mine since day one to pull it down most of the way. The I push on the plate to close it completely.

WHAT? you can get dents by closing the hatch with the bowtie?? I am going to go take a look at my car and see if I have any dents. Where do the dents form at?

At the very edge of the beauty bar where the bar curves. It was hard to see on mine unless you caught it at the right angle, then you could see a little divot right where the bar meets the hatch.
