Looking to buy an HHR!
I am getting ready to purchase an HHR (auto trans.)- any comments would be appreciated. I am esp. interested in anyone getting the 36 mpg highway that the sticker says is probable. Thanks for any feedback.

You might have better response if you posted your request in a thread that is related.....or maybe use the search function.....just read existing threads.....or start your own thread, possibly in General HHR catagory, requesting info.
This thread has been "dead" for a while and answers would be limited.
Your mileage quote is questionable...in reality. The 2.2 engine with a manual trans and VERY GOOD driving habits might yield those results. But in honesty and putting a median on highway mileage with an auto....29-31 MPG. Frankly, your 1998 Vette (depending on options and mods.) probably provides about the same mileage.
Good Luck

it says 36 in the sticker now? Mine said 28 when I got it, and I think the highest was 30 for the 08's.
just checked the chevy website and it says they are rated to 32 now...
which is possible, but it really depends on the condition you are in. Where I live, it kills mileage and you will be close to the city mileage, but most likely still under. It's winter right now, so it'll be a little lower, etc, things like that.
But yeah people have done it, that and higher, but it doesn't exactly seem easy or worth it either. You won't be getting 36 off the lot unless they did something magically on the 09's i didn't know about.

My 07 LT with the 2.2 and auto tranny was rated at 32 hwy and regularly gets that with me driving. My wife only gets 30 with her driving habits.
My 09 SS with the 2.0 and manual is rated at 29 hwy and I can get 30 - 32 if I keep my foot out of it.
The new method for rating mileage started in 08, and tends to be more realistic for the avg driver. But it is realistic to get better if you work at it.
Corvettelover, what year are you looking at, what engine?

Bought my '06 automatic 1LT new, and 3 years later, it regularly gets 23MPG around town, and 28-30 on the highway depending on the geography of the land. You cant go wrong with an HHR, Corvettelover and the new ones probably perform better than mine!

I have a 06 LS A/T 56K+ I have only reset my MPG on the DIC A total of four times that since I have owned it. It reads 26.3 to 27.2 all the time. always just a .10 +/- off when doing the math. I don't drive for MPH

But for a while here in AZ, dealers were advertising in the papers....34 mpg. When you challenged that number to the manufacturers posting, the dealer would say....their customers are getting that.
