What exactly did you all use to trim the stem? I wanna be careful not to gouge the door panel. File? Dremel?

dremel with a metal cutting wheel, I placed a pc of cardboard with a hole in it to protect the plastic on the door.
It is nice to be able to rest your arm there.

& in unlock position, trim the threaded stem, I trimmed mine to about level with door panel, Be careful not to bugger up the threads, or it will scrape out the plastic threads in the knobs.. Then wind them back on, Test & if need lower, tighten down more ( but gently)..

& if you should bugger the threads, you could just use a glue for knob securement..
So the OEM lock knobs just unscrew (albeit carefully)?! Hmm if it's really that easy then I'll look into trimming mine down this weekend then. Good to know, thanks Sleeper!

Take your time.. I had to wrap rubber around my lock knobs to grab them with pliers, to prevent any scarring.. They were pretty tight on there.
