Is "SSR" any different? Perhaps GM wanted to link their retro offerings. Except for the Prowler, it seems that abbreviations were the order of the times for many retro machines.

Panel and Sedan Delivery are my usual responses with Sedan Delivery being my favorite. Sedan Deliveries are hard to find you know. :)

I've been looking for a 46-52 Sedan Delivery for awhile now. Most that I see are too far gone for me to mess with and those that aren't are too expensive. A lot of people think that just because they have an old car rotting away behind their garage it is worth a fortune. Too many people have been watching Barrett-Jackson.
Sorry for they hijack - I call mine an HHR, it's an import from Mexico.

The PT in PT cruiser is a nod to Plymouth Trucks. My 1941 Plymouth truck has a model designator of PT 125. The cruiser was originally to be a plymouth, but when the brand was killed, PT was used to honor the little known PT series of Plymouth trucks produced between 1935 and 1941.

I would have loved for our HHrs to have been Nomads

Thank you. What became the PT Cruiser was originally to be the Plymouth Pronto. Several versions, Including a Pronto Cruiser that had a front end similar to the PT had been shown at various auto shows and one car magazine speculated on that car being the one to save Plymouth once it was announced that it would go into production. Unfortunately, the decision to end Plymouth was made shortly after production was green lighted. So the car was quickly renamed "PT Cruiser" and was sold as a Chrysler.

I know it's patterned after the '49 Suburban, and since 'Suburban' was still in use that was out. I just wonder if there was a less-clumsy name GM could have used?
My wife calls it "the Wagon".

PT is for Personal Transportation---Dumbo!
