My wife's 09 had the smoking package and her power outlet stays on. On both of our HHR's we have a small flashlight that stays plugged in all the time and it has a blue LED that stays on all the time.

Haven't looked to see if mine has the smokers package or not but I have the same with my phone. The other part is walking up to the car see the phones screen is black and then unlock the door and the phone screen comes on with the charging info and the charging red light will then be on to but wasn't before hitting the unlock button.

I can't remember if it was from the GM classes or my mentor that used the term "wake" the BCM. As in wake it up.

I just did a search for wake and BCM and came across a PDF from the company I currently work for and am at right now, NXP, about BCM chips we make. It too, says sleep and wake so I think those are industry standard terms.

This PDF is public info that I found from a Bing search. Page 5 and some others mention wake and sleep.

It is not in spanish btw

I have the age old method to prevent battery drain, I ensure the power sockets are empty, nothing plugged in to them , when I’m not in the car.
It kind of an anti theft thing also, no wires or devices visible to theiving eyes!!

However; I don't see any year that hast either of the front cig lighters involved with RAP. The rear on the panel is controlled by the RAP relay. The RAP relay controls the window switches and sunroof. Interestingly it also controls 3 spare fuses. The BCM does control other aspects of the RAP system.
