Major HHR Question

So last week I decided to sell my 1997 Chevy Lumina and finally sold that yesterday evening. The money that I got for the car is going to be used as a down payment on a new car and of course it is going to be a 06 used chevy HHR.

The car is very beautiful and fell in love with it instantly the thing is though I don't want to get in a big bind like the last used car dealer I went through. The car is great shape and runs really great.

Well I'm a little hesitant. When I took the car for a test drive its seemed like it was hesitant on wanting to go. I know I'm used to driving a good size 6 cylinder enging and going to a 4 cylinder. Just the pickup seemed sucky and I've droven 4 cylinders before and didn't seem to be hesitant to accelerate.

Before I buy this car do HHR's have bad acceleration that make the car seem hesitant to drive.

Please let me know it would really appreciated.

Mine is sluggish from a dead start, but grabs a NICE power surge at around 3000 rpm. I have the 2.2 liter.

See I just wasn't sure that it may have felt like that because I'm used to a 6 cylinder that just picks up and goes and is like higher power. I thought that is what it felt like. My cousin who has a bigger 6 cylinder in her Rendevouz said that the HHR was really hessitant. She was a afraid the Tranny in it was going bad.

I don't want to take the risk well because I have a car I can't drive setting in my garage because the finance company gave me problems. Its a long story as a matter of fact.

She said she has driven 4 cylinders forever even her geo was a 4 cylinder and she said that thing picked up and went quicker then what the HHR went.

Well I have a LT rental outside right now, due to mine being rustproofed today... I'll comment more later today. My SS (275hp/375torque) model isn't sluggish in any bit or fraction of the word. To put things in perspective my last 2 cars were a TrailBlazer SS (~400/400 hp/torque) and Lincoln MKZ (300hp/3XXtorque).

Yeah I think the one I was looking at was a 1LT and I just want to make sure that its supposed to seem a little sluggish and not the tranny.

We know another dealer that we will test drive another HHR to see if it seems the same way. I just don't want to go a month with the car and poof.

I have the 2.4L and there is a flat spot on initial acceleration (gone after 3000 RPM as putter said) I'm planning on getting a tune that should resolve this issue...... As it is if I brake drag it a little and get the RPM's up she will spin the tires and just GO! Feels pretty powerful for a four banger, On ramps are a blast! And I get 30MPG on top of that.

So you all are saying that it isn't really something to worry about that it is expected to have some sluggish at initial take off.

Like sitting at a stop light for ten minutes and taken off it will seem sluggish?

It has 120k. Which is something I'm a little worried about too but according to the Dealer it was company owned and that it was mostly Free Way driving which does make me feel a little better but still hesitant.

Do they have maintenance records? 120K should have had all the major systems checked and fluids done at 100K I believe...... I would imagine struts/shocks, brakes, etc. would have been done at some point also.
