Manual Transmissions

Has anyone ever seen or done a survey on the number of owners with manual transmissions? My 2009 purchased in June was the first manual transmission my dealer had ever ordered. I have only ever seen two others. I was never able to drive one before placing an order, although I did drive a Cobalt with a 5 speed I believe was a Getrag as in the HHR.

Yeah, there aren't too many MT drivers anymore.
When I bought mine (used), there were a lot of HHRs in the area, only a few with MTs, and only two or three with the options/color I wanted. I ended up driving 100+ miles to get mine.

When I was looking for my HHR, I only found one with a manual trans (LS model) in the 5 dealerships in a 50 mi. radius. I ended up ordering mine,'08
2lt panel.

Looking on www.gm.ca using the vehicle locator, there are a few LS around. I just noticed there are a few more now than before. However the 2.4 LT with manual is very hard to find, only ever saw one in southern ontario.

They are out there, but not in big numbers. When I was looking, the local dealer had two five speeds on his lot, both had been sitting for some time. I offered to take one off his hands, and after some negotiating, got, what I considered a great deal on my 2007. Little over 14K out the door. Guess they wanted to move it. Had my choice of silver or silver, chose silver.

Classic had a few, and to their credit seems to be the only Chevy dealership in my immediate area that has the warewithall to have manual transmission vehicles on the lot to sell. Mine of course, is a stick.

In another thread, there were comments that MTs are less likely to be stolen.

Having had my old Silverado ripped off, I consider that an extra benefit with my HHR.
