RCA, formerly an acronym for the Radio Corporation of America, is now a trademark owned by Thomson SA through RCA Trademark Management S.A., a company owned by Thomson. The trademark is used by two companies, namely Sony BMG Music Entertainment and Thomson SA(the owner of the RCA name), which licences the name to other companies like Audiovox for products descended from that common ancestor.
Companies acquired by Philips through the years include Amperex, Magnavox, Signetics, Mullard, VLSI, Agilent Healthcare Solutions Group, Marconi Medical Systems, ADAC Labs, ATL Ultrasound, portions of Westinghouse and the consumer electronics operations of Philco and Sylvania. Philips abandoned the Sylvania trademark which is now owned by SLI (Sylvania Lighting International) except in Australia, Canada, Mexico, New Zealand, Puerto Rico and the USA where it's owned by the Osram unit of Siemens. Philips also owns a 96.5% share in the light-emitting diode manufacturer Lumileds. In 2006 Philips bought out the company Lifeline Systems headquartered in Framingham, Massachusetts. In 2007 Philips acquired the company Ximis, Inc. headquartered in El Paso, TX for their Medical Informatics Division.[8] In October 2007, it purchased a Moore Microprocessor Patent (MPP) Portfolio license from The TPL Group.

I stubbornly, simplistically refuse to buy "foreign" cars. All I will get are "American" ones. Friends who drive Toyotas, Hondas, etc. will point out to me that parts from most cars now are made all over the world, many "foreign" companies have their factories in the US, that US companies assemble their cars in other countries, and that many US car companies are in co-ownership/partnership with some foreign companies, etc.
It's complicated, and it's hard to say you're getting a 100% "Amercian" car any longer. I just keep my simplistic view and hope for the best, seeing how bleak the financial scene is for GM and other USA car companies lately.

My bad....
I meant Thomson (Europe), not Philips.
GE sold its home electronics division to Philips in '87. They no longer produce many of the products. READ HERE
GE & RCA tvs had been built in China. Zenith went belly-up and is now just a brand of LG. IOW, no more U.S. tv industry.
Bottom line.... Unfortunately, if they don't wake up, U.S auto manufacturers and the jobs will go the way of TVs.

I think it's more like the American people need to wake up and stop hating our country and it's auto manufacturers. I get so annoyed hearing people say, "I hate American cars." I usually follow that with, "so when was the last time you drove one?" The answer is usually something like 1985 for the really hardcore people. The other people just want to look smart like everyone else and buy a Toyota just because it's the "cool" thing to do.
Oh, did someone mention the Made in Mexico Fender Strat?

hey all, don't put words in my mouth...
My only concern, was why some carfax reports state Mexico and some don't ...I was trying to find out if there was a difference in where cars are made etc, etc.....
Those who want to put race into it have a problem of their own...

If there's anything to worry about, it's provincialism and prejudice, h2ofowl. HHR's are assembled in Mexico using parts and subassemblies produced all over the world. I doubt that a characteristic could be found (either positive or negative) that would identify the HHR as being "Mexican".

What's up with that?!?!?!?
