Guys.....I'm thinkin' "the" Big bro and the builder kinda look at things this way....... the vehicle has "X" type tires, the drive train is able to handle this much rotating velocity and the length and width in relation to the handling limits of the vehicle equals this max mile per hour....... what I'm sayin' is it's not a random number they select because of how they felt on that day. Now rental cars......everyone I've seen rented had the "go" pedal oulined imprinted on the carpet....... choke her back, you bet!

The vehicle was not built or designed to only go to 80 mph. So it's a defect and they should fix for free. But if someone has done this after the vehicle was built they may not fix for free. Was this a rental/fleet car? If you don't know give me the last 8 of your VIN and I can check it out.

Pretty sure the original post said it was a rental........ If they did this, it's more a mod than damage/defect.

That bites, but I still have never heard of this being done. And if it was a national rental chain, I have seen cars for all of them and never heard of this.

It was owned by a renting company called "national rental company". I bought it directly from them and carfax also says that it was a rental car. I did some research and i found hat something like "hypertech" can remover speed limitation from my car. is it something i can do it by myself?
