My first 1000 Miles, Impressions

So. I am nearing 1k miles and thought I would express my opinions, So far I like the car alot, It seems solid, Quiet, Comfy, I have the Black with Tan leather, looks great when clean but catches dust like crazy, I have been doing mostly city driving while averaging about 23 MPG, I am happy with that, I don't really mind the window switches being where they are, I spent 3 years in Arizona in a car without A/C. Its windows up heat or A/C for me. Its quite a different feeling when looking out the winshield as it seems so short, I am 5'8" so I fit just right in the seats, It seems to me that this is not a big mans cars but have seem posts where you larger folks seem to be fine.. as for the power, My old Jeep Cherokee had a comfort/performance switch that when switched to Performance, always allowed the engine to rev about 500 to 700 rpm higher in normal driving, It was for towing, That would be a nice addition. I kinda wish the shifter was a little higher and foward as the armrest almost blocks access to the shifter, (Automatic) My wife,, After telling me I had odd choices in my cars suddenly had a sore leg from shifting gears in her car and wanted to drive mine. All I could do was give her that look, You guys know what I mean!!! So not wanting to write a novel here, I am very happy with the car, I guess the real test is when I pack my Telescope and camping supplies for our summer camping Starparties, Will it hold all my stuff, before I bought the I was considering the Honda Element, I really liked them but read to many horror stories about poor Gas Mileage. Sorry to bore

Dale

Hi Dale,

Welcome to the site. Where in California are you from? We have several memebers in different parts of the state that post daily. Having a new car is always a great experience. Welcome to the site. Do you normally Reset your MPG counter at each fill-up?

Hi Dale and: Try clicking back a notch to the "I" shifter position when you want that "sporty" performance, it offers much firmer shifting at higher rpm's and might be just what you are asking for. Great for twist mountain roads!

Glad you're enjoying your HHR - that's what it's all about.

Please tell me that the only reason you didn't buy the Element was the gas milage. The HHR definitely has the Element beat in the looks department.

Dale, I am 6ft1" and I have plenty of room. The only problem, is the arm rest kind of drive me nuts when I can't get to my drink in the drink holder, but I can live with it. There is not enough wrong with the HHR that would ever prevent me from buying another one. I am crazy about the car. By the way, welcome to the site.
