My first road trip
Took my new 2009 HHR LT on its first road trip to Northern Wisconsin. It was about a 500 mile road trip. I now have about 1000 miles on it. I did use a soft roof carrier that I tied to the upper seat belt attachments. Packed the carrier with light weight items like blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags.
The carrier didn't budge and felt very secure. Still not sure if this is a great idea but the luggage rack just seems too expensive for me to add.
Averaged about 31 MPG with three people, luggage carrier and a car full
of camping gear. The car rode perfect even in some strong winds.
I love everything about the car. Parked next to our friends SUV's and Mini Vans the HHR looks so small but I just don't feel like it seems that small once inside the car. One friend has a Hyundia Santa Fe and she said she averages about 19 miles per gallon on the Highway, so I will take my great little car
any day.
