My thoughts after non-stop 1K miles trip.

Car, 06 HHR 2.4 2LT with Automatic, no mods to suspension or engine.

Except for gas it was a non-stop trip from Michigan to our winter home in Alabama, here's my thoughts.

The HHR was loaded to where the rear of the car was 2.5" and the front was .5" lower then the stock height, even with all the extra weight the HHR handled great. Because the inside was so packed I had to move the drivers seat forward two or three inches more then I would have liked, I'm 6' and even with the seat more forward then I would have liked I had no problem driving.

Using 87 octane gas I got 27.5 mpg, considering all the extra weight the HHR was hauling I'm happy with that.

The HHR is no Tahoe but for what it is I'd give it an A in it's class, I'm very pleased with my HHR.

My wife and I rented a condo for a month ( Feb. ) in 05, we started looking for a winter home and bought a new home in Foley. We're only 17 miles from Gulf Shores, if you're ever in that part of the state please let me know.

Regards,
Al

Forget Gulf Shores! You're in the same town with the best outlet mall and restaurant in the world! Nothing better than lunch at Lambert's, Home of the Throwed Rolls, then an afternoon of shopping.

Haven't been to Lambert's yet, we do enjoy having the outlet mall near us though.
