Yes

My HHR currently does not have RBs or splash guards on them, but I have bought them (just waiting for the weather to warm up). My HHR came with the rear fender protector (yours should have them as well).

I've had mine for 5 months now and have put about 6,000 miles on it. I examined the paint after I took it through a car wash the other night and the only "sandblasting" I have is on the rear fender protectors.

I bought the RBs so that I would avoid having the sandblasting issue that the original poster has.

As for the splash guards, others have posted that they really don't protect that well since the front ones do not go low enough. I'm only installing them for the cosmetic effect.

After I install the RBs and splash guards, I am still leaving the rear fender protectors on as added protection.

Your choice Doc.....

But, in most instances, the splash guards alone will not resolve the issue. Adding clear plastic, probably. But, how much and how high up do you wish to go?? After all installation and materials, the cost will probably approach the running board cost.....unless you install yourself, which is a real B***H.

If you wish not to pay the dealer for the boards and installation, check around for the boards and install yourself. Not hard. There is a running board install, with pictures, on this forum by one of our female members.

Obviously my vote is for the boards.

Thanks

Thanks for the insight, Black Rose and Snoopy. I had the same thought about the effectiveness of the splash guards when I looked at some pics of them. After I left my post, I went out and looked at my car and noticed the rear protectors for the first time. Funny how you miss stuff sometines. Anyway...looks like I'll be calling my dealer to inquire about getting RB's installed.

Thanks again-
Doc

Wise idea, do it before any damage occurs. I firmly believe running boards need to be STANDARD equipment on the HHR. Some climates are worse than others. Damage will eventually occur without them no matter where you drive..
