Have issue with rpm gauge surging, doesn't feel like trans is slipping, more like just losing power. Check engine light came on. Advance was the closest, he said cam shaft position sensor and it requires two. Dropped kid off at school and remembered y'all prefer the actual code, so went to O'Reilly.
Actually code number: P0336
Gave me a print out of the results:
Crankshaft position sensor 73Crankshaft position sensor co... 6
Camshaft position sensor 3Crankshaft position sensor wir... 2
O'Reilly cleared the code, hasn't come back on as of yet
Where to start?

Thanks for providing the code, many just don't get how important it is.each
The information from the print out is useless without context. I imagine the information was in columns, with labels for each column.
Anyway, there's good information here https://www.obd-codes.com/p0336

The guy was really wrong. P0336 is relating to the CRANKSHAFT sensor, there is only one.
probable causes in this order:
Could be the wires/connector to the crankshaft sensor,
Could be the MAF didn't get plugged after an air filter change
Could be a bad crankshaft sensor
#4 in the pic is the sensor

Ok....you guys are awesome. The link is an awesome read. The above diagram is perfect. So here's the new discovery...
Put the car up on jack stands. Starter is covered in oil. Nasty, gunky. Been leaking from somewhere for a hot minute. My oil level is good...so not sure where that's coming from.
Could the sensor itself be leaking...it's not my oil filter o ring. The top of that housing is clean, has to be coming from somewhere just underneath it...I'm assuming there has to be some sort of gasket around the sensor right?
Next question....to change the sensor, starter has to come off right? I don't see any other way to get to it...

Oil on starter, sloppy removal of oil filter, it’s hard not to drip oil when you change the filter, or the oil pressure sensor is leaking.
Crankshaft position sensor isn’t near an oil passageway, so it’s not leaking

Ok....so going on the premise that the oil leak has screwed up the crank sensor....I can see the plug, it's pretty nasty...is there a way to clean that mess up...so it doesn't just mess up a new sensor
