Need advice on a good trailer

I did some searching on the forums and found that the Draw-Tite Class I trailer hitch fits our cars the best,

http://www.etrailer.com/pc-H~24756.h...cleid=20086988

I'm thinking about purchasing the BAJA MOTORSPORTS Reaction 150cc Go-Kart from Pep Boys,

http://bajamotorsports.net/product_i...products_id=79

It's net weight is 515 lbs with a length of 93.5" and width of 54.75".

I need to find a trailer that is big enough and strong enough to carry the load of the buggy. According to the manual, I can only tow no more than 1000 lbs so the trailer has to be under 485 lbs.

Any suggestions?

I have a 2.4L automatic HHR.

I'm eagerly awaiting some responses to this thread as well since I'm about in the same boat as you are Supermode. We're going to Kentucky for some motocross riding soon and I'm stuck between installing the hitch, getting/renting a small trailer, and towing the bike or just partially taking it apart and putting it in the back of the HHR.

My plan was to drain the gas out and plastic wrap the entire motor and frame to practically eliminate any smells that the bike may put off.

I've got the 2.2 with auto and my manual says not to do any more than 1k miles a year of trailer towing (WTF..). I've got a 2k round trip to do if I'm going to tow this bike. I'm really swaying towards just putting the time into taking the bike apart. :^)

Wish the listed the wheel track length. That total length is just under 8' and width is 4.5'. I have a 4x6 tilt trailer (also from pep boys) and I've towed a 38" Murray riding mower with it with ease. I know I can lift it up (empty of course) when it hooked up fairly easy. I would imagine a 5x8 wouldn't be much heavier. Get a tilt and you don't have to worry about the added weight of the tailgate (or wind drag).

I would be pretty cautious about towing with the HHR. Even with just 1,000 pounds behind it, stopping, on a steep downhill grade would be difficult, it would seem. We tow, but its the HHR that is towed behind a diesel motorhome.

Actually it tows pretty good. Heaviest thing I have ever towed was the mower I think, and it did it effortless. And I live in a very hill area.

I also had no issues towing about 800-1000 lbs with my old 2LT. And I was driving through hilly areas too. I will admit though it was even more comfortable towing the bike this year with my wife's Freestyle.

If you buy a harbor freight trailer, don't buy that one; buy the one with the upgraded (12") wheels.
