need how too on swapping door handles/lift gate trim

I searched and searched and didnt find what I needed so I appologize if this has been answered before.

My 2007 HHR has the chrome door handles and chrome liftgate trim. I purchased black painted door handles and black painted liftgate trim. I want to swap these out but Im not sure how to go about doing it, especially the liftgate trim/handle assy. I have swapped handles on my silverado before with a how too, but never fooled with the HHR yet.

If anyone has a how too on swapping door handles and liftgate trim please please post a link or details for me, I sure would appreciate it.

All I found was this and Im still somewhat confused

okay I got the handles on, that was easy.

By looking at the liftgate beauty trim piece, theres two outside studs that must connect behind the liftgate panel.

Any tips to remove that panel?

I tried getting the piece that kinda joins it together at the top and it wouldnt budge and started to discolor the light gray plastic where clips must be.

TKHHR can answer this one....LOL

I watched him and Elle rip and strip the lift gate panel off in 30 seconds.

nice...I sure could use some pointers.

The door handles were so easy I couldnt believe it. The handles on my silverado required alot of work.

That Silverado is nice! I especially like the clear headlights! Really sets it off IMO!

Its actually pretty easy, Remove the top middle(around 3rd brake light) section by just pulling it theres 4 clips, Then work your way around the edges of the panel and pop out the clips, not sure how many there are. Useing a panel remover tool is easiest but a flat head screw driver will work also. Like I said its pretty easy just pull and it will come off I thought I was going to break but its pretty strong
