Any ideas on a good spot for a 't' fitting to get vacuum for a vacuum gauge? On my last car I did it by the PCV valve. I thought I found it in the front of the engine (1/2 hose) but when I tried it, there was no vacuum there. I have not taken off the air filter yet, but I guess it would be under it somewhere. Unfortunately, the top cover does not come off very easily.

 

there is a hose at the back of the throttle body that goes to the evap
emission solenoid valve that should do the trick

We all knew that.

 

Vacuum gauges can be used to show any engine problems, as well as gas milage. When you step on the gas, the vacuum goes down. By trying to keep it high, you get better fuel economy. Erradic (spelling) vacuum means either a leak somewhere in the engine or some other problem. With forced induction (turbo or supercharge) you go past 0 vacuum and into positive pressure, or boost.

I have to say I don't really see the point of putting a vacuum gauge on a non boosted EFI engine.
