New BCM
#4
Before I threw any money at a BCM I would go to a dealer and find out if it's broke or just needs re flashing. It is not a "user serviceable" part, unless you own a Tech II and subscription (got $50,000 laying around?).

I'm with donbrew on this logic. How did you determine that the BCM is "bad"?
Fwiw. Any established wrecking yard can usually locate the part for you if they don't have one. Many yards are on the internet "network link" which can find other yards with the correct part.
(sorry. don't recall the "network link" official name)

I believe that it was uninstalled correctly?? also had some burnt wires... and now after reconnecting the battery with everything,,, starts, liftgate still doesn't work but the break lights do... and I need an unlock code for the stereo.... at some point I do hope that it is in good repair... ;/

New is the only way to go, because I don't think the HHR BCM can be programmed to a second vehicle. The new BCM will need to be set up by a shop that has the proper scanner. When they set it up they can unlock the radio at the same time. There are no longer "codes" to unlock radios.
I would want to know what cause the shorted wiring before putting another BCM in.
