Thinking of just getting a tech 2 scan tool, the price range seems to be a lot,, from 350.-2000. would the $350 Product Name:GM Tech-2,Vetronix GM Tech-2 Scanner get the job done?

You will also need a software subscription. the last price I remember seeing was $50,000.

oh myyyyyyyyyyy. Dealer said they will do it (match the BCM up with the car) for 125. Just a tad cheaper...

I have been trying to tell you, not a DIY job. They will probably have to completely re flash the computer, then set everything back up. Shop around for dealers, some charge less. Should be an hour or less labor, I would think.


AND, find out what caused the shorting and be sure it's fixed.
