New guy thinking of buying need help
Hello,
everybody I am in the U.S. Navy and I am stationed out here in Oklahoma at Tinker AFB.
Anyways I bought a 2005 Kia Spectra5 hatchback brand new last year and like it alot but find I am leaning on trading it in on a new left over 2006 HHR LT or new 2007 because they are bigger and cooler looking. My question is my kia is fully loaded has the 2.0 engine and is an automatic and I have pretty much averaged around 28 miles to the gallon but was advertised at 34 mpg.
Can you nice folks give me an idea of your actual MPG with both engine's 2.2 and 2.4 configuartions?
Thanks Matt

I have had mine 2 weeks and just filled it for the second time. Have 793 total miles and and 256 miles were over the road. I used 28.3 gallons. 28.02 miles per gallon average. It's a 2.4 automatic. I was pleasantly surprised by the mileage.

I have the '06 2.4 2LT - Auto tranny
I average around:
25-27 mpg - City
28-30 mpg - Highway
And these numbers have stayed consistent, regardless of fueld grades I have used out here in AZ. I have tried everything from 87 - 92 grades and have seen no change in mpg's. Hope that helps!
You may also want to consider the size difference in fuel tanks between the Kia and HHR.

I really dont have a lead foot it is just the turnpike I drive on everyday for 30 miles the speed limit is 75 I usually go 80. I am still able to get 28 mpg at these speeds overall I drive 47 miles one way in the kia and it has a 14 gallon tank.
I am going to test drive an HHR tommorrow it is a 2006 HHR LT 2.4 brand new and has a conversion pkg done to it and custom Chip Foose wheels as well. They want $21,200 for it sunburst orange sunroof has the auto tranny running boards custom leather and a bunch of other stuff. It also comes with 5 years 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty 3/36 bumper to bumper.
