New HHR owner, possibly as soon as tomorrow?

Hi all!
My name is Darryl and heres the situation. Im a little tired of the PT Cruiser that i have now, and the HHR is really appealing to me. Plus, my insurance will drop 68 dollars a month if i get the 2.2Liter, and 52 dollars if i get the 2.4Liter. I have a PT cruiser GT Turbo, and the HHR is, well, slow. Im sure that there are options that i can do to liven teh engine up a bit. I dont know what im getting because GMAC and I havent decided what I want, and what they want to finance. Im hoping i can get the 1LT which is Sunburst Orange, the color i love. The main problem is finding a 5-speed manual tranny with ABS, which i must have. I almost walked out 2 times because they told me they cant get me one with ABS, i must have ABS and a manual transmission, no exceptions. I went to edmunds.com to read some reviews on how actual owners like it, i cannot find a review lower than 8.0, which is damn good! Even people with the base model love it. I did test drive it for a good while too, it took some getting used to. Like all new manual trannies, this one was notchy and it was hard to put it in 1st, but im assuming with a little age and the syncros break in it will loosen up, like my scion did.

Why would anyone buy a Scion XB??? I will never know, this has more room, more stuff, and looks worlds better, for a great price. I can count on one hand, only one, of all the cars under 17 grand that has a Driver info Center, 3 of them come from GM that i know of. I hope i get it. I think its kinda funny how i want this car even more than the mini cooper that i test drove!

Have you checked to see if you can even order ABS with a manual?

it can happen, and we found 3. 2 LS's and 1 LT. they are at different dealers, so my dealer will have to go get them tomorrow morning so i can look at em. at first they were trying to say that you had to have a auto to get abs, but i kindly reminded them that only applies to ABS with traction control, not stand alone ABS.

Welcome to the site Darryl. Be patient and you will get what you want.
And don't forget to post pics when you do get one.

USAF-HHR, does A-town stand for Colorado Springs? If so, I understand why you want the manual transmission. You'll need to get with the Canadian owners or Courthousedeb about driving in snow. They say the HHR does great.

My son's a cadet at AFA and I have several friends who work at the base hospital. It's a small Air Force world, isn't it?

Welcome to the site and best of luck with your search!

I'm heading out to Colorado Springs next month. My wife is doing some TDY days at Peterson AFB and I'm tagging along as I have never been out there. (No duty days for me..this time it will be all fun time ) Visiting the AFA is one of the musts on our list of things to do and see

Sometimes it just takes a lot of digging and searching to find the HHR with the options you want...Lord knows I did! The ABS was not a must for me but the HHR I got had everything else I required so the ABS was not a deal breaker

Good luck and welcome!

Hope you get your HHR soon. We know you'll love it!

Be sure you stick to your guns and get just what you want, and make sure it's on the car before you take it home. That's our worth. Keep in mind that most of those folks Chevy hired to sell their product.......don't know beans about the product they are selling.
