New windshield

Coming home from Plaquemine, LA. a stone came from I know not where since the vehicle in front of me was not close(maybe 5 or 6 car lengths) and put at star and an immediate 10 inch crack in the bottom center of my windshield. There were vehicles in the parrallel lanes and the on coming lanes so it may have come from there. This was 3:05 pm. I called Safelite and after speaking to the rep we figured that this was going to take a new windshield to fix the problem since the crack was too big for repair. We made an appointment for 4:00pm. I arrived a few minutes early for the appointment and they got on it immediately and by 4:43 I was back on my way home with new windshield installed. They even saved my state inspection sticker and my oil change reminder sticker.

I'm hope you asked them to waive your insurance deductible.

I get a new windshield almost every year. I have a $100 deductible and shop around for a shop that will waive it = free windshield. I found that Safelight will not waive, but a lot of shops buy from them.

I have '0' deductible. With my insurance the difference between $500.00 deductible an $0 deductible was only $60.00 per year so I opted for the $0 deductible a few years ago.

I have had a less than stellar experience with safelite, I hope yours is much better! Nothing like a new windshield to give it that new car look IMO.

Are you sure you mean $500 deductible?? and $60 difference.

My insurance company only offers $100 and zero deductible.

I can't imaging $500 ... Why would anybody pay for that on an HHR.

The other issue is the quality of the windshield glass used to replace.

Most car insurance companies offer a $500 deductible. In fact, most companies offer all kinds of different deductible amounts.

Maybe I should have explained a little better.

My reply should have mentioned Windshield Glass Breakage deductible amt.
