Sort of. It still must be an EPA-compliant CC.

I reviewed the OP’s prior post https://www.chevyhhr.net/forums/gene...ecotech-64118/ (but did not re-read all 132 comments) and am reminded that the original LE8 motor (FlexFuel) was replaced with an LAP from a Cobalt (non-FlexFuel.) If the original fuel injectors from the LE8 were not installed in the LAP, could that cause chronic a/f problems that could lead to CC failure?

EDIT - Huh. Look at that. I hadn’t read OP’s comment 40, posted just 4 minutes prior to this one, when I made this comment because it wasn’t yet posted when I started writing.

Those links show a much better price, but that core charge hurts, and the warranty problem.

Here is a good example...

This link shows all of the catalytic converters available for my car at Rock Auto. https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/...converter,5808

If you click the info button on them you will see "E.P.A. Compliant Converters are not legal for sale or use in California or Colorado. Restrictions apply in New York and Maine" across the top of the information. They have one available that will work but it's still over $800 and I just wanted to see if there were other options. It's looking like I might just have to bite the bullet and get the same one of this other one from Rock Auto.

Summit shows the Walker one that I have for $727 but can't get it till February. https://www.summitracing.com/parts/wlk-84229

The Walker website shows two cats that are weld in replacement

https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/wa...converter,5808

https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/wa...converter,5808

And the complete pipe

https://www.rockauto.com/en/parts/wa...converter,5808

Same part number as the Summit link you posted.

Now, cutting and welding in a new cat isn’t allowed, and it’s not much cheaper , but if they are in stock and your mechanic will cut and weld, then you could be emissions legal much sooner.

CarID shows out of stock also

https://www.carid.com/walker/calcat-...mpn-84229.html

Or click notify me and wait.

The NY state DEC site must be wrong about their laws.

Part 218 Emission Standards for Motor Vehicles and Motor Vehicle Engines Guidance for Aftermarket Catalytic Converter Installers

t is unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, advertise, or install any used, recycled, or salvaged catalytic converter on any vehicle in NYS. A used catalytic converter is not a new AMCC or an original equipment manufacturer (OEM) replacement part. This prohibition does not apply to the sale of used catalytic converters for recycling purposes.

It is unlawful for any person to sell, offer for sale, advertise, or install any new AMCC for use on 1993, 1994, 1996 and newer CARB and 50 state certified vehicles in NYS unless that new AMCC has been certified by CARB or is an OEM replacement part. A new AMCC is defined as being constructed of all new materials and is not an original equipment catalytic converter.

It is illegal to install noncompliant AMCCs in NYS. A violation would be for each noncompliant converter sold and/or installed. Failure to maintain complete records or submit reports may also result in a violation. DEC periodically conducts audits at facilities to ensure compliance with the requirements of Part 218.

Emission Warranties

New AMCCs for CARB and 50 state certified vehicles will be covered by a warranty for a period of 5 years or 50,000 miles of use, whichever comes first. The warranty will cover defects and failures related to workmanship, emissions performance and converter construction, such as loss of conversion efficiency, OBD system malfunctions, converter shell and pipe corrosion, and faulty welds that may occur during normal usage. The warranty does not provide coverage for defects due to overfueling, engine misfire, or physical damage caused by road debris or accidents.

You didn't read page 2.
There it say "If the vehicle has CARB or 50- State emissions certification, the catalytic converter will be CARB certified and the vehicle’s engine family or test group will match the conve"

And the Walker link I posted elucidates "NEW YORK (Effective 6/1/2013)
CARB-compliant aftermarket replacement converters are required for California Emissions Certified vehicles – model years 1993, 1994 or 1996 and newer – operated in the state. EPA-compliant converters may be used on vehicles from model years 1995, 1992 and older, OR all Federal/EPA-only Emissions Certified vehicles regardless of model year. "

It might be highly intelligent to give the DEC a call. Instead of relying on the guys that installed the wrong engine.

Page two is a checklist for installers. I know what my car needs. If you aren't here to help why are you here at all. I'm sorry but this is just ridiculous!!

Here match the engine code (BGMVX02.4033), or didn't you see that I posted the sticker under my hood a million posts ago. You know the one that says California class...
https://www.hottexhaust.com/2008-201...tic-converter/

I'm not stupid. Do you think I haven't done my research? After all of the work and money I've put into this already?

And get over the engine. Its not the wrong engine. If it was it would have never ran properly. You obviously don't know at all so please leave me alone and find someone else to harass!!

Oldblue - I'm sorry if I violate any rules with this post but I really don't understand why he continues to harass me.
