Newbe intro

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and just recently bought a new 2008 2LT orange HHR. It has the 2.4L motor, automatic, sunroof, leather, heated front seats, onstar, running boards, pretty well loaded. I've had it about 3 months now and just turned 1200 miles. So far no problems at all. In fact, this is the first new GM I've had in over 20 years, and I am really impressed. Very solid, quiet, and great mileage. My average commute to work is only 10 miles, and I have been getting 27+ mpg so far, with one road trip to Auburn,AL and I got nearly 32mpg. I actually have 2 other Chevys as well, a 1965 Corvair Monza 4 speed coupe, and a 1981 Corvette. But they are my "toy" cars I take to shows and don't use them for general commuting.

I only have one real question so far. I am interested in adding a trailer hitch to use for a bike rack. I don't plan to pull a trailer at all, and I would like for as much of the hitch to be hidden as possible. Does anyone have experience with such a hitch? I found on Autoanything that looks good, but don't want a bar going under the tailpipe. If someone has a picture of a hitch installed, please point me to it! Thanks for any help!

Rich

Size: 5.6 KB to the site Rich!!! Great color choice Of course, I'm a little biased. There are some members here who have hitches on their HHR. They may chime in or you can use the "Search" function. Just type in trailer hitch and see what threads it brings up

Thanks for the welcome guys! I am looking forward to checking out some of the other postings and especially about experiences others have had with bike racks. Thought about the roof racks, but my wife has trouble reaching up there and it would have much more aerodynamic drag when on the road than using a hitch system.

Hey Rich! Welcome to the forum. It sounds like you got my truck! Ain't that a purdy color? Can't help you with the hitch question, but I'm betting someone here will chime in with the info you're looking for.

Welcome. I usually fold the 60 back seat down. I can fit two bikes and a chariot baby carrier back there. My son has the rear 4o, and the two front seats are for me and whoever wants to get a WORKOUT..lol
That is probably the most impressive feature that I use frequently. I mean many larger (read heavier, more expensive) cars cannot do that.

I've seen hitches back there. Not sure if they interfere with the look though.
