Thanks again to all that responded. I haven't been able to log in for a week since I was off on a business trip. I'll keep checking for any pictures of an HHR with a hitch. I spotted a nice looking Yakima bike rack that I want to get once I find a hitch I like.

Thanks again, looking forward to exploring this site and learning more about my new toy!

Welcome! I have a 2LT with a hitch. It is visible but not bothersome to me. The hitch I have and all other hitches connect to the frame above the exhaust. You have to drop the exhaust down off its rubber mounts to get the hitch installed. Pretty much all of the hitches look the same.

Hi Debbie,

I am in Huntsville, AL. We just got back from taking my daughter to Auburn, she is a freshman this year, and we had my HHR loaded to the ceilling! Incredible what it can hold! I had a 5 shelf book case, a chest of drawers, a computer desk, a vacuum cleaner, a box of dishes, assorted computer parts, printer, clothes, etc. Couldn't see out the back, so had to use the side mirrors all the way there, but still got right at 30mpg on the trip! I am really liking this little car!

Thanks Pitbull76! I was crawlling around under it before we took it to AU last weekend and figured the muffler would have to be moved somehow to install a hitch. Haven't done it yet, but definitely planning to soon!

Yep I have seen 2 types. One is more symetrical and mounts below the exhaust. The other is what most people here have, the drivers side goes above the exhaust. There is a detailed howto thread around here somewhere..
