Newbie towing question

Hello everyone! New member of the forum, and I should mention newbie to towing as well.

I'm considering getting an HHR Panel for daily driver use, as well as towing a trailer 70 miles about 10-12 times a year. My wife and I DJ for church youth groups, and our equipment weighs about 750 pounds. I'm having a hard time finding the weight of 4x6 or 5x8 trailers, but I think it would probably put things over the HHR's 1,000 pound limit. My question is: can I put some of the equipment in the back of the HHR, and the rest in the trailer? Or does the 1,000 pound limit assume an empty vehicle?

Any help or guidance you gyus could give would be appreciated. Thanks!

P.S. - Why don't they recommend towing with an SS? I'd think the more powerful engine would be a help, not a hinderance.

GM states towing is not recommended for the SS, but it doesn't say don't tow with it.

the weight probably has to do with the lower clearance and suspension but this is just my guess.

You probably could do some of both it has a 900lb payload weight, and 1,000 lb towing weight.

towing weight also includes the capability of your brakes

Wow! Thanks for the quick replies, everyone!

It sounds like I can do what I was hoping for, if there's a 900lb payload and 1,000lb towing limit. Anyone know any good online sources for trailer specifications?

Also, in terms of towing capacity, is there a difference between the 2.2 and 2.4L engines?

One last thing: What exactly is the cargo load floor (slide-out) option? Haven't been able to find any information on that.

The SS Ground Effects is the reason they don't recommend towing.
