My stock 2.4L was able to do a 270° spin in 1.0 seconds while plowing through a curb. Of course this wasn't a track time.

According to this article, you are looking at 16.95 sec @ 82.75 mph for a 2006 2.4L automatic. Hold on to your seat!!!

Original posted data for the 06 models. The auto's later got a lower gear ratio. Don't have numbers on those.

2.4/Auto
0-60=8.37
1/4=16.35
1/4 MPH=85.2

2.4/5 Speed
0-60=7.9
1/4=16.2
1/4 MPH=87.2

2.2/5 Speed
0-60=8.51
1/4=16.63
1/4 MPH=84.95

2.0 TC/5 Speed
0-60 MPH: 6.21
0-100 MPH 15.13
0-130 MPH: 31.05
1/4 Mile ET: 14.810
1/4 Mile MPH: 99.030

realistic figures from a local track and a racing buddy with his 2006 2LT auto

2100 corr. alti.
17 mph head wind
79 degrees ambient

16.49 @ 84.97 mph.
16.52 @ 85.01 mph
16.47@85.29 mph

his car has less than 20k miles on it. He had 1/2 tank fuel, and all stock drivetrain.

why bother? lol

I have been bracket racing for 20 years. I even used to race my 1996 Grand Marquis on grudge night just for the halibut, but for me, going WOT for 16 seconds in a HHR is just....weird.

Kevin-

Jealousy rears it's head in many ways...

A couple of buddies question my switch from my former 98 S-10 to the Panel..

Actually my Panel would run circles around my former S-10, & not just in speed..

It's kinda like an old Harley saying: "If I have to explain, you wouldn't understand".
