Not the usual TPMS thread
Does anybody know if a position reset tool that works on a 2008/2009 will work on a 2011?
I know all about letting the air out to reset the TPMS positions on pre-2011 models.
They changed the TPMS reset during the 2011 MY to a system that requires a tool.
In previous years you could use a tool if you wanted to, the question is: is it the same tool for all model years?
I finally can think about buying one, but the cheaper tools available are old stock with manuals that apply to Escalades, C6s and up to 2008/2009 HHR models.
There is a limited "New Old Stock" of Cub Pro-101 TPMS reset tools at a good price, but their Owner Manual stops at the 2008/2009 MY. Seems to be a very good tool, if it will work.

Donbrew......
I have the Kent-Moore tool for 2 of my GM cars.....an '08 and a '12. Sorry I have an '06 HHR, which does not have the TPMS, so I can't answer your question related to the HHR.
But the Kent-Moore (EL 50448) is a great tool and easy to use. I think THEY sell it for around $80.00. But I purchased it from ToolSource.com for under $60.00.
Thought you might want to look at that.

I will bet that yours was a rental/fleet vehicle, and that the BCM could be reflashed like my old 2008 was. But, which tool are you using?

To finish this out. The EL-50448 is a generic tool that works on all HHRs that have TPMS (2008-2011 and some 2007). As of 2020 they are dirt cheap about $8.00 free shipping on ebay.
Sometime in the 2010 model year they changed the system to require the EL-50448 tool AND a fob. The fob is needed to start the learn and the tool is needed to do the learning.
Releasing air does not do it anymore.
2008 models that have had the car battery go dead need to have updated firmware installed in the RCDLR. This happens on car lots regularly.
