nylon nuts

nylon nuts
(here is one for the childish thread) kind of a stupid question but my license plate in the rear has its nuts stripped (there ya go) I have looked all over including some suppliers I used to work with for replacement nylon nuts (there is another) I have been able to find packages of 50 1/4" but they do not appear to be the right shape, too square they look like they need to be more rectangle(another). The dealer says they do not stock them and did not seem to be able to get them due to the high amount they have to order, does anyone know where I can get the right nuts for my application? (1 more for the road..have fun ) Thanks..Guy

?
Are these the white press-in captive nuts that are behind the plate? They do appear to be more rectangular, though the squarish ones at the parts store would probably still work from the looks of 'em. Try a body shop, they usually have these types of items loose in their fastener bins.

Since the HHR is such a unique vehicle, their license plate nuts are also unique. But I just pulled one out (PIA), and stuck one of the regular nuts that all the other Chevrolets (except the Aveo) come with and I believe they will work. The HHR nuts are TOTALY different than any I have ever seen.
Yes the holes in the liftgate are rectangular and yes the normal nuts have a little side to side movement, but I think it will work once the screw is installed. The HHR nuts do have a small rubber seal around them to prevent water intrusion (i guess), but if you got some of the normal Chevy nuts and used a small amount of silicone around the nuts, I don't think there would be a problem.
This is a set-up for the Childish thread I'm sure.
Questions:
1) What happened to your old ones?
2) What part number did they give you for the nuts?
I don't think I have ever typed nuts this many times in a thread.

Thanks to ChevyMgr!
My assessment was based totally on what I had seen at the part store, but without actually taking out the nuts and putting them next to the other nuts, to see if the nuts were actually the same.
(See; I just couldn't resist!)

I still have my original nuts, they just wont get very tight, they could not seem to find anything to replace them in their computer. I really figured this would get out of control, you guys are so grown up,lol.
