Odd rubber bumper on hood

I was washing the HHR and I popped the hood to get the tops of the fenders and as I was releasing the latch on the hood a small rubber bumper fell to the ground. It is about 3/4" long and triangler shaped. I found that it mounts to the underside of the hood, at the center of the grill. It was held on by adhesive. A pretty dumb design, but I took some 3M emblem tape and stuck it back on. It seems to hit the front bumper when the hood is closed. Anyone else notice this or have it fall off. I think I would rather have a different design.. maybe the type that mounts within a hole and is round. Anyway... looking for some feedback.

well, from the looks of it, this bumper is called an overslam bumper. I will look at the HHR to see if there is another bumper under the hood, but otherwise, that is the name the parts catalog gives it.. and it is $7! huh?

"Plumber's Goop tm" is a great way to make things stick on to each other.

Same stuff I use-sticks when you need it but can be removed later. I use a dab of it on each of my door pull area to hold the rubber screw cover in place and not vaccuum it up!
