The contact or friction areas are NOT aluminum. Most importantly, the block cylinders are sleeved with Steel and the rings are ferrous as well.

As I recall the "chip detectors" were also electrical. So when too much metal was stuck on it, it basically short circuted and illuminated a warning light.

Sorry-Ex Army Pilot Would be neat to have though

yep yep... that s how they work... "chips light" "feather four" "in what order?"

The difference I could tell was that the engine didn't seem as "free" with the heavier weight. Basically what Offy mentioned, close tolerance + heavier oil = more resistance for the pistons, crank and so on.
