ok go easy on me, im new ;)

Alright, we just bought our 06 HHR lt1 in orange (some would say ut orange but i dont follow colleges) treaded in our 01 cruiser limited loaded to the gills for this car with a few less options, and i cant be happier! at 6'3" and not skinny the pt was a torture to drive...only problem with the hhr is the mirror is tooooooo low... ok so now for a couple questions (im sure they have been asked elsewhere, please go eazy on me)

1. whats the deal with the led light in the ceiling pointing down at the middle of the dash and can i turn it off?

2. ours doesnt have the upgraded speakers, is the wiring and all already in place so i can pop out the plug and add a sub and an amp?

3. any secrets i should know up front about keeping the wheels clean and shiny?

4. this is the biggie, as i know people will be brand loyal... whats a good semi synth oil to use? i use syntec in my camry so im hoping to use it here too

i think that senough to get me started...let the flogging begin

The mirror will actually push all the way up to the headliner. Mine actually touches it. The LED cannot be turned off, but some put a colored one in there instead or just remove it.......

Talking Welcome!!!

as for the led light, I don't know why so many people want to turn it off, it was probably my favorite feature of the interior...I LOVE IT. maybe it is because I sit with my seat all the way down and leanin' back. If I had my seat up higher & sittin' proper maybe it would bother me more?!?

As for the rims, I have the 17" high polished chrome & I put a coat of Turtle Wax Ice on mine almost every time I wash my ride. Keeps 'em blingin'.

I'm not sure about synthetic oil, I usually just go with Pennzoil.

Oh, & by the way...Name: useless.gif

Just give the mirror a shove up. The whole assembly will move up, then just adjust it to see out the back. Visibilty is not a HHR strong point.

No, it can't be turned off. You can unplug the light though. It is supposed to be shining on the window switched which do not have lights within or behind.

2. ours doesnt have the upgraded speakers, is the wiring and all already in place so i can pop out the plug and add a sub and an amp?

Sorry, unless you have the premium system, there's no wiring.

3. any secrets i should know up front about keeping the wheels clean and shiny?

Wax them just like the car. DO NOT use any chrome wheel cleaner on them!

4. this is the biggie, as i know people will be brand loyal... whats a good semi synth oil to use? i use syntec in my camry so im hoping to use it here too

A lot of different opinions on this. I'd just use whichever brand you were happy with in the past.

i think that senough to get me started...let the flogging begin

BTW........

Be sure that when you push up your mirror that you use both hands. Hold the mirror support that is against the window and just push the mirror up. I had a guy stop in my pizza shop Monday and he parked his HHR right out front and I helped him move his up. He was very grateful. He thought it was moved up. It was still 2 inches or so from the headliner.

im not big on the light mainly because it distracts me, im sure once i get used to it ill be fine...maybe put in a red one since they dont hamper night vision.

ill have to try the mirror move, i figured it might move, but with my luck id have grabbed it and it woulda been the one that doesnt...lol

i guess i can run all the wires myself...#$&%

and finally, ill post pics up as soon as i can, right now all we have are the pics from the ad in auto trader been to wet here to clean it up right and take our own...

Looks like most of the questions have been answered, except what kind of oil. It's a matter of preference...and mine is Mobil 1 Synthetic.

to the forum from a fellow Sunburst Orange owner..and be sure to post some pics...the natives will get restless if you don't.
