Okay, I'll 'fess up. I don't like the engine. There, I said it. The 2.4L is thrashy sounding and produces more noise than forward motion. This may also be partly attributed to the automatic transmission. I've held my tongue on my dislike because I haven't seen too many others with the same concern and I am here to discuss the things that I like. I dislike the 2.4 so much that the HHR is now primarily driven by my wife and I picked up an '07 Saturn Aura for myself.

That said, I still enjoy the HHR and consider myself an enthusiast. It just isn't up to snuff for my daily driving. Perhaps when (if) the fabled HHR SS/Sport appears it will address my concerns.

One more thing, please don't flame me on the merits of 4 versus 6/8/16/32 cylinders or the high-tech nature of the engines. I'll be the first to admit that my dislike of the 2.4 is highly subjective and not reflective of most others.

Every time I intend to open the driver's window I lock the door. Oh yeah! Three other things: (1) driver's armrest, (2) driver's armrest, and (3) driver's armrest.

I'd rather have a hunkier engine.

I was shocked at the amount of pickup I had with my 2.4. It's more power
than i'll ever need.

I am an old guy and I remember when Motor Trend praised the dodge 2.2 L 4cyl charger for its power. It went to 60 in 11.X seconds back in the 80's;My HHR will come in over a second under that so power is subjective. My last car was a 2.3L ranger pickup so when I got this thing it feels really responsive. I Hate the easily breakable plastic parts. So far the Power window toggle switch and 2 air louvers have broken. I absolutly hate the armrests and very poor cup holder location. (coffee drinker). The fabric seats are really fragile as well. I have covers on the bottom portion already.

I hate the way it gets in my head, makes me set pictures of it on my cell phone and computer screen savers. I hate the way it makes me look back at it before I go in a building. I hate that I am reluctant to let my wife drive it without me. I hate that it makes all those poor PT drivers wish they had waited......well maybe not!
