A 1950 panel truck, looks like the new one we're all waiting for now.







I'd hate to think of the gas mileage this puppy got !!!!!

Actually if you've ever seen an early 50's GM station wagon, thats how big they were. It's a 2 door wagon with out windows, built on a car chassis, and were generaly refered to as a "Sedan Delivery". They were used by small business' to deliver flowers, groceries, etc. back when business gave service along with the sale.
They would get about 17-19 MPG on todays freeways. There were not very many built and it's nice to see them saved.

Kinda sounds like who today/tomorrow's panel HHR is marketed to.

That's what prompted me to grab these pics

I couldn't get over the similarities between the 1950 and this one.




They have to be marketed to the same segment and pull the same duty. I wonder what the 1950 model cost in that year. Also what the difference would be in adjusted dollars between our prices today. Anybody got any knowledge about this?

You left out they were used by funeral homes to deliver dead bodies. Didn't they use them for ambulances too?
