Last night returning from a friend's house I was broadsided by an F150 Ford pick-up fleeing the scene of an accident. He rammed me in the passenger side so hard that the car skidded 1 revolution and landed upon a sidewalk and curb.

The two illegals abandoned their pick-up truck as their tire was flat and they were stuck in a nearby yard trying to escape. So far the have not been caught by police. It is too soon to know if the truck has owners or insurance.

The HHR did a great job of protecting me and I'm very impressed that I was not hurt. The impact was quite amazing I can assure you! There were plenty of pleasantly surprised witnesses who marveled that I was okay.

Did your side airbags deploy?

 

Considering it was a full size P/U, the damage to the HHR looks as if it were undergone by the infamous Volvo. This was one of the reasons (among many other unique facets) that drew my family to the HHR. Really... Critics complain about the size of the pillars, but never accentuate their virtues. Not sure if everyone can see the pic using their browser, so I posted your pic archive below... That could have been my daughter in the passenger side rear and she would have been okay, especially with the curtain air bags.

Thanks to everyone for the thoughts, no airbags were deployed nor did the engine quit.

I did have to scrape the bottom when removing it from the curb so and worried about Herbie's bottom.

Glad you're okay...... reading about it sounded worse than once I looked at the photos. Not that it's not damaged, but I was expecting worse..... Kudos to the HHR design team

Looks like it held up remarkably well for a side T-bone impact. Very little intrusion into the passenger space. What year is it?

Glad you're OK, that's the most important thing. Considering the hit it took I'm really impressed with the way it held up, hopefully after some body shop time it'll be good as new.
