Unhappy our2009 hhr a total loss

coming home from owen sound ontario, got caught up in a white-out&hit astopped 2005 chev. stability trac&air bags deployed and torque box did its job &saved us from major injury&or death. we have full replacement coverage and car had only 13,700 kms on it there are $4000 in incentives here in canada. dealer said he can relace it for same money or cheaper for a 2011. we are finding that they are getting very scarce and color selection is poor, guess the reason is this is last yr of production. i am also concerned that we will lose a lot of residual value if we decide to purchase 2011. we loved our hhr;s versatility &gas mileage. hate to get a color i can't live with. maybe considering getting new 2011 hyundai elantra or 2012 ford focus.
if we can't find an HHR.REGARDLESS THIS FORUMhas been a wonderfull experience for help etc. regards KEWATIN

Glad to hear you are all okay. Hopefully dealerships close to you can find one you love to replace your prwvious one. Maybe they can trade with a dealer that isn't local.

The most important thing is that you're OK. See if your dealer can trade with another to get you the color and options you like. Even though the HHR is going away, they will crank out quite a few more between now and the end of May. Regardless of what you choose as a replacement, please keep in touch and keep us posted.

Count your lucky stars, no one was hurt. Sounds like a good deal to replace with a 2011. I really like mine and will buy another one in about 3 years, maybe a 2010. The HHR 5 star crash rating must be true, held up well in a crash. Good luck in your search.

kewatin-

Sorry to hear of your accident.. Seems the HHR really protected you...

Hope you can find what you like to replace it, & that it is equally safe ..

There is a grey/purpleish HHR LT at the dealership here. Chrome package etc. Looks very nice.

Sorry to hear of your accident. HHR safety is GREAT. Totaled my panel last year and couldn't replace it, but walked away without even a scratch. Understand why you would look at something else. I ended up with an SS. It's great, but not a panel...Sure miss my panel.

When it comes to the safety of the family, an HHR becomes expendable (and in this case sacrificial). BTW, the crash test ratings are close between the HHR and the Hyundai Elantra. Both got 5 stars frontal. The HHR got 5 stars side impact; The Elantra got 4.
