I've owned 3 HHRs now - 2 SS and and 2LT.

I bought a 2005 TrailBlazer in June 2005 - and then saw the HHR for the first time in August.
Instant buyers remorse - and having Katrina shoot the gas prices sky high made it all the worse. (With a tailwind - the TB would get 17mpg on the highway)

January 2008 I had the TB in for some minor service - and while waiting at the dealership, I grabbed the 2008 HHR brochure and took it home.

Went back the next day - "just to do a test drive" and before I knew it - was signing the TB over in trade on a new 2008 2LT :-)

Later in the 2008, traded our 2003 Impala in on another HHR - this time an SS with a manual gearbox. I had learned to drive with a stick shift VW Bug in 1982, and picked it back up again pretty quick. Of all the cars I've owned over the years - the SS was definitely my favorite.

In early 2009 - someone ran a red light and we hit them with our SS at about 55mph broadside. Totaled her - and the insurance company bought us a new '09 SS to replace it.

After seeing how the '08 held up during the collision (nastiest one I've ever been in - and hopefully I'll never be in another one like it) I couldn't praise the HHR's crash worthiness highly enough. (no cabin deformation whatsoever)

A lot of folks tend to overlook how a vehicle does in a crash test for sake of MPG, looks, top speed, etc etc.

I do know that when the time comes to retire our HHRs - I'll definitely be sad, and I hope that their will be something available with similar styling and safety rating.

If I were to do anything differently - It would be buying the 2LT with a manual transmission, I had forgotten how much fun those can be...

I am on of the few who like Gas Man who I guess you could say got a bad car.

I bought mine with 12k on it end of May last year. Since then it has broken down at least once a month since then, and most recently almost all of June, July, and every day in August. Has been towed in 4 times, went in with CEL another 4 or 5 times, went through 4+ tire sensors, 3 wastegates, a turbo, and a boat load of other parts.

I love my car, or the idea of the car. Just not mine particular. GM has tried, they gave me extended warenty, and because bought used PA law I did what I could and was given some monitary settlement but at this point I think it isnt worth it. I would rather not have the car at this point. It just isn't worth the stress to me for the car.

Love my '11 HHR!! It's a really fun car to drive IMO, handles well and is comfortable and quiet for the most part. I don't like the visibility out of the windshield but that's part of the design. I've been a GM guy for the most part and never had any major problems with any car I've owned. Keep up the good work!

In March of 10 my wife traded her 96 Pontiac Sunfire GT in on a 09 HHR LT in Victory red. It had 9k miles on it and it now has 16k with no problems. I kept stealing hers as often as I had a chance and really liked it. In Oct of 10 while facing $500 in engine repairs(new timing belt, new water pump and all new tensioners) on my 93 Coeolla with 186k, also needing new front struts and maby tranny work, I spotted a 10 HHR LT In metallic red. It had 8040 miles on it when I test drove the car. I got it for 16k. It now has almost 16k miles on it. I have had only one problem Key stuck in ignition, fixed under warrenty. The only other problem is that my wife said that if she had seen mine first she would have bought it as it has two options that she wanted, Onstar and running boards.
So it seems any time we go anywhere we take mine. Would we both buy another HHR-----YES
