For nearly permanent use any exterior rated contact cement. You coat both surfaces, let them set a few minutes then slap together with some pressure. done.

Factory did it with 3M molding tape. I installed mine new out of the package, tape already applied.

I haven't had good luck with 3M...contact cement may be the best solution.

With either product , you have to clean the surface of wax and polish.

Most of the trim I have installed that has the 3-M tape comes with an adhesion promotor

Clean and smooth surface prep is the key when using 3M adhesive tapes. Used their products on lots of things with excellent results.
The bug deflector on my Dodge truck was firmly attached with 3M tape for 22 years ! The deflector finally got UV brittle and cracked. The 3M tape was still holding strong and a real beeoch to remove.

I put on the rear rubber bumper pad had 3M Tape on it 9+ years ago .on my HHR and my son's. As mentioned prep is the key.

I’d have to check with fastsuv, to confirm Oldblue still has the rear bumper protector, I installed that in May 2010, it was still on there when he picked the HHR up in September 2019


This was taken the day he picked it up.
