The time has come to replace the inside door handle on the passenger side. Seems like a common problem with our vehicles. Can someone recommend where to purchase the metal door handle and a procedure on how to replace it? I would assume YouTube would be a place to start but wanted someone with a first hand experience on doing this repair.

I did not remove all that plastic just put in a new metal handle and new hindge parts(the drivers door is what I did)

I've had to replace both of my front inside door handles bought them off flea bay they were the metal ones I had a repair shop do the work for me.

 

Instructions came with the ones I got. I left the circlip off thinking that gravity has been doing a good job for a few thousand millennia.
GM sells a handle now, competitively priced. I don't know what it is made of.

 

Thanks to everyone for advice, help and recommendations for replacing the inside door handle. I purchased the metal handle and replaced it this past weekend.

 

I have a metal passenger side handle lying around, minus a the circlip, because I bought the pair and only needed the driver side. Good thing, because I lost one of the circlips when the wind caught the little baggie.

Pulling the door card off is harder than changing the handle. The single most important thing is to start with the correct fastener, the one on the rear of the door. Counterintuitively, you push the little center anvil IN 1/8" or so, and it pulls right out.
